Jump List for Excel:  Faulty Operation Issue
Hi. With the exception of Excel 2007, all my taskbar Jump Lists work fine. Excel's has the correct pinned items, below that a separator bar, and below that the standard list of MS Excel 2007, Unpin, and Close. Issue/Problem: For Excel, current items never appear on the Jump List. There is no "Recent-------" separator bar, and of course no listings under such an absent bar. I tried opening existing Excel 2007 documents using the Office Button as well as creating and saving new ones. In no case, whether an Excel *.docx document is open or recently saved and/or recently closed, does it appear on the Excel Jump List. So I cannot pin anything new since there are never any items listed (other than the pinned ones from many weeks ago). The regular MRU (Most Recently-Used) list within Excel 2007 (displayed by clicking on the Office Button and looking to the right) works fine; it's just the Jump List representation that's missing. Please help! How do I get the Excel list to function properly while preserving all other program Jump Lists that are working fine? Thanks in advance for your expertise.

Hi This issue with the Jump Lists and Excel 2007 is a known bug. There is no current ETA on a fix for this problem that I'm aware of. Regards, Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Thanks for the reply, Ronnie. I sure hope Microsoft gets this fixed ASAP. The Jump Lists are a great idea, but of course only if they work right! A small point: My post inadvertenly referred to a "*.docx" file yet of course I meant an "*.xlsx" file. Finally: When we users have problems like this, I feel that Microsoft should have some frequently-updated compendium of known issues so we don't waste hours trying to fix something that is unfixable. If you can help motivate them to do this, please do. And: If there already is such a list, please make all of us aware of it. I really hate wasting time. Thanks again for your (fast) reply. . . . Good a.m. I've been trying to resolve this mystery too, and I stumbled today to the following link: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2010/07/04/fix-windows-7-jump-lists-missing-or-does-not-display-recent-items-or-pinned-files/ I erased all of the files that were more than 100kb and I was able to re-pin Excel files to the program. Maybe this is the temporary solution? Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll give a try. I appreciate your help very much even though the problem has already been reduced considerably for no apparent reason. Maybe it's because I've moved to Office 2010 rather than Office 2007.
